Do you want your church to be known for “Security?”
I know it is just for fun, but Church Marketing “Stinks” has a poll asking which “Ministry” people consider most unnecessary.
The options are:
- The giant Jesus/Cross ministry
- “Security” ministry
- Church Sign ministry
- Church Marketing ministry
I used that story as the basis for an April Fools security mailing at the church last year as the “New Security Volunteer Plan” with interesting results (a few were eager to volunteer).
The Lesson:
I believe it was Mo Rocca (or maybe Adam Felber) on Wait Wait . . . Don’t Tell Me who said “If you can’t do the headline, don’t do the crime.” in reference to a story in which a man was caught stealing a big sausage in his pants.
Consider all security issues in light of how things can go badly from a publicity angle. Is it worth it?
